August 10-14, 2026
The Ibero-American Workshop & School on Biophotonics will bring together postgraduate students, early- and mid-career professionals, researchers and health-care practitioners in order to explore advanced optical techniques applied to biological diagnosis, imaging and therapeutics. The program combines theoretical foundations with practical applications led by internationally recognized experts.
To train highly skilled professionals and students in biophotonics, integrating science, technology, and human consciousness through innovative, ethical, and excellent education that promotes the responsible use of light and energy for well being, research, and the integral development of the human being.
To be a leading school and a national and international reference in the teaching and application of biophotonics, recognized for its academic quality, its scientific and human impact, and its contributions to the advancement of knowledge, health, and harmony between science and life.
To develop educational and training programs in biophotonics that foster theoretical practical learning, research, innovation, and personal growth, preparing students to apply biophotonics consciously, ethically, and effectively in scientific and technological fields.
The program covers 11 key topics in biophotonics, taught by leading international experts in the field.

CTOM is committed to providing an environment that is conducive to the free and robust exchange of scientific ideas. This environment requires that all participants be treated with equal consideration and respect. While CTOM encourages vigorous debate of ideas, personal attacks create an environment in which people feel threatened or intimidated. This is not productive and does not advance the cause of science. All participants in the Ibero-American Workshop and School on Biophotonics 2026 and all other CTOM and/or CTOM-managed events and activities are therefore expected to conduct themselves professionally and respectfully. It is the policy of CTOM that all forms of bullying, discrimination and harassment, sexual or otherwise, are prohibited in any CTOM or CTOM-managed events or activities. This policy applies to every individual at the event, whether attendee, speaker, exhibitor, award recipient, staff, contractor or other. It is also a violation of this policy to retaliate against an individual for reporting bullying, discrimination or harassment or to intentionally file a false report of bullying, discrimination or harassment. Bullying, discrimination and harassment of any sort by someone in a position of power, prestige or authority is particularly harmful since those of lower status or rank may be hesitant to express their objections or discomfort out of fear of retaliation. CTOM may take any disciplinary action it deems appropriate if, after thorough investigation, it finds a violation occurred.
The event will take place at the Facultad de Ciencias Físico Matemáticas (FCFM) of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP), located in Ciudad Universitaria. The faculty is a renowned center for scientific training and research in physics, mathematics, and related fields.
